Ollie attends Theo Paphitis SBS event
Theo Paphitis held an event for all the winners of his Twitter Small Business Sunday competition and Ollie was there.
#SBS - What is it?
Small Business Sunday (SBS) was the brainchild of Theo Paphitis one Sunday afternoon three years ago in October 2010. A big fan of the social media networking site, Twitter, he decided to try and raise the profile of small businesses he liked the sound by 'retweeting' their description of their business.
Theo is a prolific and powerful tweeter
@SourceSupplies was retweeted in September 2011 and we have since enjoyed networking with other small business winners.
Theo was on stage for hours taking questions from his audience of winners
The Event
Held at the ICC in Birmingham, SBS Winners gathered to hear what the former Dragon had to say and what he has in store for SBS. The network he has built will continue to evolve as a market place and reference point for businesses within the group and we all benefit from special offers and initiatives designed to help grow and sustain our businesses.
This chap has been doing really well with his stationary and lingerie business so Ollie gave him a certificate and a quick picture
This year there are new sponsors who all see the power and potential of the SBS community and have pledged their support to the winners. DHL Express, Ryman, RAC, Bartercard and iLaw were all revealed as the official sponsors.
Theo and The Winners
Theo was on stage for hours taking questions about business (and life) from the audience and whilst his answers were witty, informative and enthusiastic, people won't be re-writing their business plans off the back of his answers. Theo was faced with an impossible task when presented with very specific business conundrums and whilst he stated a dislike for politicians, his answers were straight from a politician's textbook!
Presence, wit, knowledge and a potty mouth
Businesses have been brought together and given lifelines into large opportunities that are associated with Theo's businesses and contacts. It's not an essential club to be a part of, nor is it the ultimate networking group but it is a community with benefits that are genuinely useful for small businesses. Plus it's a great excuse to hit the town with some great people all taking a day off from being self-employed.
