The prestigious North Hants Golf Club played host to our very first annual charity golf day on Tuesday 27th May.

55 golfers from across the South East turned out in support of our affiliated children's charity, O2e.

The course was in spectacular condition despite a few days of rainfall and the golfers were able to post some impressive scores on the day.

The competition was littered with prizes on many of the holes and golfers had to be on top form to take any prizes home. Michael Wilkinson who scooped three (3!) prizes for nearest the pin in two shots (twice) and longest drive said his favourite prize was two cases of luxury toilet roll!

'A great day was had by all and thanks for organising such a good event, team Source Supplies. Thanks also for my magnificent prizes, my wife was particularly happy with the years supply of luxury toilet roll! Its amazing, I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the finer things in life!' - Michael Wilkinson, 1-1 Recruitment

Winner & Special Guests

Overall winner on the day was Jon Jackson of Winterhalter. Jon was on sparkling form as he pipped the clubhouse leader, Jeff Wollen (39 points), by a single Stableford point.

Jon put his form down to the great company he was in; Slatts (founder of O2e) and the lovely Jane Emerson (founder of Get Kids Going! charity).

40 points round NHGC is a great effort and Jon walked away with a lovely Oscar Jacobson golf jacket that was generously provided via the sponsorship from our very own David Davies and Futura Medical.

Not only did Jeff Wollen scoop 2nd prize (a NHGC putter over and O2e t-shirt) and come within 2 inches of a hole-in-one, he was also in the winning group.

Raffle

North Hants is, of course, the home of US Open Champion and multiple Ryder Cup player, Justin Rose. Justin kindly donated a flag from the 2014 Masters Golf Tournament and wrote a unique message to O2e. This was then on offer as a raffle prize which raised over £500.00.

The lucky winner, Graeme Orsborne of Fitzgerald & Law, was delighted with the prize and has pledged to do something extraordinary for O2e this year. He has decided to take part in the O2e annual bike ride which this year, is from Calais to Normandy.

After the golf lunch was served and prizes were dished out. Our special guests, Lucy from Sparkle Appeal and Jane from Get Kids Going! gave everybody an insight into how monies raised through O2e goes to help the children that their charities support. Huge thanks to both Lucy and Jane for chatting to everyone and representing two of our 2014 chosen charities.

Another 'thanks' goes to Rastall Snr for being official photographer for the day, capturing some great shots of some great (and some not so great) swings.

George Porter, resident professional at NHGC and founder of GP Golf was also instrumental in the planning and smooth running of the day. Massive thanks to GP.

Next Year

This event was designed to introduce the O2e charity to people who had never heard of the good work they do and in that regard, it was a resounding success. Financially, we raised nearly £1,000 which is a huge bonus and we thank everyone for taking part and their generosity!

We've had some great feedback already so next year is about to be booked into the diary. Keep an eye on our emails and social media for details if you'd like to get involved.
