Is this a challenger to the Henry vacuum?

The Henry or NRV200 vacuum is a staple product in most cleaner's cupboards. It's great vacuum but has it controlled the market for too long now?

Legislation

As of 1st September 2014, EU legislation demands that electrical goods sold in the EU now have to conform to lower energy ratings.

Starting from 1 September 2014, every vacuum cleaner offered for sale to consumers in the European Union (EU) will carry an energy label and be rated from A-G for;

  • performance
  • dust re-emission
  • noise level
  • power consumption

Once implemented, the new energy labels will enable consumers to evaluate a vacuum’s performance at a glance, making it easier to choose the appliance best suited to their individual needs.

Vacuums will be rated for cleaning performance on;

  1. carpet
  2. hard floors

Henry

The humble Henry falls outside this required voltage so has had to be tweaked by the engineers at Numatic. Whilst the voltage has been decreased to achieve the 'A' energy sticker rating, they say that power has remained the same.

What else is on the market?
