CMPP Twilight Runway Challenge
CMPP Twilight Runway Challenge
Team Source were at it again on Saturday evening over at TAG Farnborough Airport.
Whilst most people were putting their feet up in front of Saturday night TV with the rain hammering down outside, over 350 people braved the storms to run, cycle, hop, unicycle and walk 3km, 5km or 10km around the airfield at Farnborough.
Give me two wheels, any day. Hats off to these lads!
Claire and Nyree swapped their Saturday night clobber for waterproofs and cycle helmets, pedalling 10km round the runway whilst Ollie and Anth galloped a quick 5km loop.
Nyree, Ollie & Claire ready to go in the official O2e running t-shirts. Hiding from the rain!
The Event
In its second year, CMPP were delighted with turnout - a full sell out - despite the ominous cloud bursts that drenched everyone before the airport Fire Brigade launched the event.
This fabulous image by Charlotte Kevan (@CharlotteKevan) captured the mood perfectly. Heavens opened in the build up to the start then the skies cleared, the evening sun appeared and rainbows popped up.
Fundraiser
At £15 per person, CMPP raised over £5,000 for local causes in Rushmoor which will be channelled through the project in the coming months. It was great to see people young and old of all levels of ability turn up so enthusiastically and the event was a resounding success.
Sprint finish! Team Source were pipped!
The Hosts
Huge high five to Elaine and her colleagues at TAG who were the hosts and kindly closed the runway for the event. It's a unique experience and one we highly recommend!
Great to see local kids turn up and get involved. Who needs an XboX?
Congratulations to Katy, Elan and Christine on organising such a great event.
